◇ Why a single mistake parks the truck

An expired registration is an instant roadside violation. An IRP mileage error triggers a costly audit. A missing HUT decal in New York is a fine before the first delivery. The fix is filing it right the first time.

Commercial vehicle registrations, IRP apportioned plates, and specialty permits follow strict state and federal rules. Owner-operators and fleet managers lose revenue every time a truck sits because of paperwork that wasn’t done correctly — or wasn’t done on time. Our team specializes in NJ and NY commercial DMV transactions and knows exactly which forms, fees, and supporting documents each service requires. We prepare everything, submit correctly, and track to issuance.

Coverage area — currently New Jersey

Our in-person and document-handling DMV services are currently offered for New Jersey commercial vehicle registrations, IRP plates, and related DMV matters, plus select New York transactions (HUT decals, OS/OW permits). Expansion to additional states is underway — contact us about your state if you don’t see it listed.

Why owner-operators trust us

Six things you actually get.

01

No DMV lines — ever

We submit directly and track your application end-to-end. You never set foot in a DMV office for anything we handle.

02

Commercial-vehicle specialists

We know the difference between apportioned and base-plate registration, IRP vs. IFTA, and when an OS/OW permit needs a pilot car. No generalist confusion.

03

Right paperwork, first time

Errors on DMV applications add days to your turnaround. We verify every form and fee before submission to prevent rejections and re-filings.

04

All-in quote, no bait-and-switch

We quote the full number upfront — our service fee plus pass-through state and DMV charges, itemized line by line. No surprise add-ons at the counter, no recurring billing.

05

Compliance-aware review

We flag missing 2290 Schedule 1 proofs, lapsed insurance certificates, and lien issues before they become registration holds — not after.

06

Real people, direct contact

Call or email directly. No ticket queues, no call centers. Same team handles your order from intake through document delivery.

Common questions

What carriers ask before they file.

Base-plate vs. IRP apportioned plates — which do I need?

A base-plate registration authorizes your truck in a single state only. IRP apportioned plates, issued through the International Registration Plan, allow a commercial vehicle to operate across all IRP-member jurisdictions — the 48 contiguous U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and ten Canadian provinces (Alaska and Hawaii are not IRP members). If you cross state lines for commerce, you need IRP. Operating interstate on a base plate is a federal and state violation that carries significant fines.

Do I need an IRP account if I only cross into NY occasionally?

Yes. Under the IRP Plan, a qualifying vehicle is one with a GVW over 26,000 lbs OR any vehicle with three or more axles regardless of weight — the moment either type crosses a state line for commercial purposes, it must be registered under IRP. Occasional or infrequent trips do not exempt you. However, if you need to haul a single load into a new state before setting up a full IRP account, we can obtain a trip permit to keep you legal for that specific move.

What is the NYS Highway Use Tax (HUT) and who needs it?

New York State requires any truck with a GVW over 18,000 lbs that operates on New York public highways to be registered for the Highway Use Tax and display a current HUT decal. This applies even if you’re only passing through New York — not just deliveries within the state. Operating without a valid HUT decal results in fines and potential vehicle detainment at weigh stations.

What documents do I need to register a new commercial truck in NJ?

A standard NJ commercial registration requires: the Manufacturer Certificate of Origin (MCO) or existing title; proof of commercial insurance meeting the FMCSA federal minimum of $750,000 for general freight per 49 CFR § 387.9 (NJ requires interstate carriers to meet this floor); completed MVC form BA-49; proof of paid HVUT (IRS Form 2290 Schedule 1) for vehicles over 55,000 lbs; and applicable fees. If there’s a lien, the lienholder must be reflected on the title. When you place the order, we provide a complete checklist specific to your vehicle and weight class.

How long does a title transfer take in New Jersey?

A standard NJ commercial title transfer takes 3–7 business days once we have signed documentation from both buyer and seller. If there’s an outstanding lien, the lien release must be obtained before we can file. Rush processing is available for an additional fee — contact us if you need the title in hand quickly for financing or registration purposes.

My commercial registration expired and my truck got stopped — what now?

Driving a commercial vehicle with an expired registration in New Jersey is a motor vehicle violation. The officer can issue a summons and, depending on the circumstances, place the vehicle out of service until proof of valid registration is produced. Fines range from hundreds to over a thousand dollars per occurrence. An expired registration at a federal weigh station also contributes to your CSA Vehicle Maintenance BASIC score. Contact us immediately — we can often expedite the renewal within 1–3 business days.

Can you clear a DMV registration hold on my truck?

Yes. Registration holds are typically caused by unpaid fines or surcharges, lapsed or cancelled insurance, a missing or incorrect 2290 submission, or a compliance flag from another agency. We identify the source of the hold, advise on the resolution steps, and handle the DMV side of the clearance. Timeline depends on the nature of the hold and how quickly any third-party issues — such as insurance verification — can be resolved.

Do you handle oversize / overweight load permits?

Yes. We obtain single-trip and annual oversize/overweight permits for New Jersey and New York routes. Requirements depend on load dimensions and weight, the specific route, and time of travel. Some loads require a designated pilot car escort and travel-time restrictions. We advise on all applicable conditions as part of the permit order — contact us before you book the haul to make sure the permit is in hand in time.
