Summary
How UCR filing works.
The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) is an annual federal requirement for interstate motor carriers, freight brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies. Fees are based on your fleet size. Here is what happens after you place your order.
Submit Your Carrier & Fleet Information
Provide your Legal Name, USDOT Number, entity type, and fleet size. We verify your details against FMCSA records and determine the correct UCR fee bracket before proceeding.
We File Through the Official UCR Portal
Our compliance team submits your UCR registration through the official UCR Plan portal. We file manually — not through automated software — to catch errors before submission.
Registration Confirmed (1–2 Business Days)
The UCR Plan processes and records your registration. Confirmation is typically received within 1–2 business days (3–5 days during the Oct–Dec peak season).
Official UCR Receipt Delivered
You receive your official UCR receipt via email. Keep a digital or printed copy in every cab — inspectors in 41 UCR-participating states can request proof of registration at any roadside inspection.
Why is UCR required?
The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) agreement is a federal requirement under 49 U.S.C. § 14504a. UCR fees fund state highway safety and enforcement programs across 41 participating states. Registration is separate from your USDOT number and MC authority — even if your operating authority is active, operating without a current UCR registration is a federal violation.
Fines from $100 to Over $5,000
State and federal agencies can assess civil penalties for each instance of operating without valid UCR registration. Violations compound across multiple trips and inspections.
Placed Out of Service
Drivers without proof of UCR registration can be placed out of service at roadside inspections, halting loads and costing you revenue.
Annual Renewal Required
UCR registration does not carry over year to year. You must renew every calendar year — typically during the Oct–Dec enrollment window for the following year.
